Please read! Camp Ilene now under new ownership know as Better K-9. I know you love your dog and so do we and that is why I am writing to tell you BEWARE. We sent our 4 month old German Shepard for his 4 hour valuation, we were invited into the office and to only peak at the grounds from a distance. The next time we took him for a half day, we felt it was very strange everything was done at the gate outside the property and we were not permitted any further, however our German Shepard was tired so we knew he was getting the exercise we hoped for. He was a happy health puppy, growing fast and it is important you know this because before Better K-9 we had never taken him anywhere else, NOT the dog park NOT anywhere that he could have possible gotten so sick. On December 23rd we took him for an over night at Better K-9 because we were out of town and picked him up the next day. His stick straight ears were flopped over by Monday morning and he was clearly sick. Throwing up and diarrhea we took him to our vet. He ran a fecal panel and turns outs he contacted Giardia, which is from still water and water not being cleaned. Considering they use large water troughs this makes sense how he contracted this parasite. Weeks of medication he was still sick and now 25lbs underweight we ran more test and the PCR panel showed he was also positive for Coronavirus and Colitis. Our vet said these are all things that a dog can get from an unsanitary kennel. The vet said he would have contracted the coronavirus from a dog who had shed the virus in it’s feces. A dog can carry the disease even months after the ingestion. Better K-9 needs to pick up after the dogs, they cannot leave feces laying around for other dogs to sniff and eat! Our puppy’s recovery will take time and his growth is permanently damaged. He is only 39lb right now and still on medication and has had diarrhea since late December. I can’t even begin to explain the stress this brought upon our family. If you can imagine a really sick puppy for month with diarrhea in the house and all over our back yard. We just want our happy health puppy back before we had trusted Better K-9 with him. He came home with Giardia Coronavirus which has caused Colitis and over $400 in test and medication. I kindly ask Better K-9 to reimburse us for the Vet bills, we feel that is the least they can do and take better care of their faculties so this does not happen to anyone else’s dog. Please if your dog has been sick and may still be contagious don’t not bring them to a place they can endanger other people’s dogs. It makes you wonder why they took the camera’s down?
